In all honesty I missed the F1 race this weekend due to some partying getting in my way. In fact, it was so long I missed out on the re-run as well. As I frantically chased for videos and summaries of all that went on through the weekend I ran into this bit from the podium ceremony.
The video is pretty straight forwad, and I'm glad those green guys where not complaining about the race.

Whether you agree or not with what Greenpeace does, you have to admit this one was pretty clever.
...and so is the FOM producer The first sign wasn't even on screen long enough for me to notice. They switched shots pretty quick. I had to go back and watch the replay.

This must be why I was able to shower between the end of the race and the ceremony on TV. I got out and Coulthard was just stepping out to interview.

Well done. They got their message out without being disruptive and (most) everyone had a good laugh about it. Should've waited for the guy to leave the stage before deploying the second one though.

They did some the disruptive stuff like rappel down a grandstand and paragliding around the circuit, which has an element of risk to others - I'm not on board with that kind of protesting.

I just found that article and had no idea they rappelled down the podium, too.

Totally in agreement.

I'm sorry, but how is this embarrassing to Shell? Some rich hippies got a tiny banner on TV for 30 seconds and a chuckle from the audience. Oh no! Maybe it will spawn a rash of "Gas Pump Boycott Days" emails.
Nice try kids, but if you're going to "embarrass" a major global energy corp it's going to take WAY more than a 3'x2' remote control sign w/ a clever icon on it.
